Final Destination 2

This film released on January 31, 2003. Written by Jeffrey Reddick, Eric Bress and J. Mackye Gruber.

The plot :

On May 13th, 2001, exactly a year after the explosion of Flight 180, Kimberly Corman was going on vacation to Daytona with three of her friends, Shaina, Dano, and Frankie.  Suddenly she gets a  premonition that will be a horrific car accident on Route 23, killing everyone on the road.  She stalls her car to block the road and prevents a number of intended victims, teacher Eugene Dix, mother Nora Carpenter and her son Tim, pregnant Isabella Hudson, lottery winner  Evan Lewis, drug addict Rory Peters, selfish Kat Jennings, and police officer Thomas Burke from entering the highway.  While Thomas ask Kimberly about the inconvenience, her vision becomes a reality.  An 18-wheeler truck crashes into Kimberly's SUV killing Shaina, Dano and Frankie.  Thomas manages to save Kimberly from being killed as well.  At the police station when Officer Thomas is talking to them, Kimberly mentions the Flight 180 explosion, which Eugene Dix tells the group about.  The other survivors of the pile up don't believe it and all leave. 

That night Evan Lewis dies when a fire escape ladder slides down and impales his eye.  Kimberly goes to contact Clear Rivers at the mental asylum where she was voluntarily in, Kimberly eventually convinces Clear to come and help them cheat death.  She explains to Clear,  the people who died first are her friend, but in her vision her friend died last.  Clear refused to help Kimberly.  Kimberly then realizes that the next to die is Tim Carpenter, and pigeons will cause his death.  She arrive at the Scene, but is too late to save Tim, Tim chases some pigeons, which causes a construction worker to drop a glass panel on Tim, crushing him.  Finally, Clear decides to help Kimberly and takes her to see mortician William Bludworth.  The strange mortycian William Bludworth, explains to Kimberly, Clear, and Thomas that they can suvive from Death by bringing a new life within them, they interpret what William meant was a birth of Isabella's baby. 

Nora left the group when they gather in an apartment, but when she is in the lif, her head got stucked on the door and cut her head off.  Isabella was taken to the custody but suddenly she was going to gift birth, a cop took her to the to the hospital.  On the way to the hospital to find Isabella as she has gone into labor, Kimberly mentions how death is working backwards, Eugene, Kat, Rory, Thomas and Kimberly all mention how they have already avoided death once, and because of the reports of the deaths of the Flight 180 survivors, Clear realizes that death is trying to "seal the rift", as they should have been dead anyway if it wasn't for the late deaths of the Flight 180 survivors.  Suddenly they had an accident which caused Eugene's back to get punctured by a pipe.  At the same time, Rory saves young man Brian Gibbons from being hit by a news van traveling at high speed.  When the news van stops it puts a hole in its petrol tank, causing the petrol to run down a pipe past Kat's car. Fire men work on getting Kat out of the car, but when a fireman attempts to remove the log with the jaws of life, the airbag is released, forcing Kat's head into the large sharp pipe, instantly killing her.  She drops her cigarette, it blew into the pipe where the petrol was, causing it to ignite, and blowing up the news van. The explosion from the van sent some barbed wire in Rory's direction, cutting him into three. 

Tom, Kimberly and Clear continue to the hospital.  On the way, Kimberly has another vision of what she thinks is Dr. Kalarjian trying to strangle Isabella.  When they arrive, they witness Isabella giving birth.  Kimberly has another vision, and then realizes Isabella was never supposed to die in the pile-up.  Clear then runs to find Eugene in a hospital room.  She opens the door, which pulls the plug out of an outlet, causing a spark, and an explosion, which expands through the hallway.  Eugene and Clear are killed in a gas explosion.  Kimberly stealing an ambulance and driving into a nearby lake to sacrifice herself.  She nearly drowns but is saved by Thomas and then revived in the hospital by Dr. Kalarjian, which is what her vision was really about.

Some time later, Kimberly and Thomas are having a barbecue with the Gibbons family.  The father tells about how his son Brian was saved on the day of the crash in the field and how Brian is lucky to be alive.  But suddenly Brian got killed by an exploiding barbeque grill gas and blows Brian into pieces.

The budget of this film is $26 million and this film was ranked # 1,309 in the world.

Final Destination

This film released on March 17, 2000. Written by Glen Morgan, James Wong, Jeffrey Reddick.

The plot :

Alex Browning is going on his high school trip to Paris with fellow students and teachers. Suddenly he gets a premonition that the plane will explode, killing everyone on board.  Alex and six others, Clear Rivers, Tod Waggner, Carter Horton, Terry Chaney, Billy Hitchcock, including his teacher, Valerie Lewton get off the plane. Soon after, the plane does in fact explode. 

One month later, mysterious mortician, William Bludworth tells Alex and Clear that "death" is intervening to kill everyone who was meant to die on the plane. One day, Tod accidentally hangs himself in his shower, and his death is deemed a suicide. The next day, Terry falls victim when she is hit by a speeding bus. After see the tragedies,  Alex get the conclusion that death is killing the survivors in the order they would have died in the explosion on the plane. He realize that Ms. Lewton is next on death's list. He go to her house but arrives too late, Ms. Lewton was died impaled by a kitchen knife. The next is Carter, he wanting to kill himself before the death does. He stop his car on a train crossing, but finally he changes his mind but he can't exit from his car as his seatbelt is jammed. Alex rushes  to help Carter from his car, and he is freed a second before the train destroys the car.  He succeeded cheating his death. But in seconds later, Billy's head is cut in half by a slab of car wreckage whipped up by a metal chain dangling from the train carriage. Alex believes that because Carter has saved from the death , and that Death skipped Carter and went on to Billy.

After that, Alex realizes that Clear is actually the next to die. Alex rushes to Clear's house and found her trapped in her car surrounded by live wires. Her car will explode, but Clear unable to escape. Alex saves her by picking up the cable but is incapacitated by electric shock. Clear and police rush to save him.

Six months later, Alex, Clear, and Carter arrive in Paris, they talking about their experience about Flight 180 and how they defeated Death. Suddenly, a freak incident involving a bus causes a giant neon sign to swing off a hinge down towards Alex. Carter pushes Alex to the ground, the sign swinging down past the two of them. Carter success to saved Alex. Then Carter stands up and asks Alex who is next on death's list, the neon sign swings back towards where Carter is standing. And finally, Alex and Clear are left as the last two survivors of Flight 180.

The budget of this film is $23,000,000 and this film was ranked #1.130 in the world.

If we look the tittle of the film, maybe first we think that film tells us about some teenager's journey. But the truly, this films is a series of horror films but not tells us about the monsters, creatures, beasts, ghosts, or demons. It is the entity death itself which manipulates the environment in deadly ways with the intent of recapturing those who somehow manage to escape their fates for the first time.
